Summit Cladding is always happy to offer householders free advice on exterior makeovers. From older period properties to modern standard designs, Summit can give your home the “wow factor!”
Our client, Philomena, contacted us for advice on fitting a new front door canopy after the old one came off.
Philomena had been searching for a company that specialises in front door canopies for some time and a friend of hers visited our showroom in Cattlegate Road, Crews Hill, Enfield.
We arranged an appointment to offer a range of alternative designs that would compliment the age and style of her home.
Cladding for symmetry
Summit recommended an enclosed “V” canopy with James Hardy composite cladding to the centre of the apex. We also suggested cladding a smaller v-shaped feature above the garage door, to create a symmetrical look to the front of her property.
The woodland cream colour was a great match for the rest of the paintwork on the house.
As part of the job we also removed the rather dated carriage lamp that was fitted to the pebbledash and replaced it with an l.e.d. spotlight in the uPVC tongue and groove soffit, and replaced all the original cast iron guttering and downpipes on the house, which were leaking badly.
Solution for leaks
It’s vitally important not to ignore leaking gutters, which will always lead to bigger problems, such as damp in the walls and rotting wood fascia boards.
We changed the existing fascias on the front elevation to black ash plastic fascias, which look like timber boards, but are completely maintenance-free. Also, by boxing in the rafter feet we not only improved the look, but also stopped birds nesting in the open eaves – as happened in the past.
Our client, Philomena, was delighted with the result — and so were her neighbours!
While we were on site we had two inquiries from neighbours who’d been impressed by the way we transformed the property.
