Summit Cladding is often called to the rescue by homeowners when things go wrong with their walls. And number One on that list of problems is cracked render.
Now, render can be a good thing. It can extend the life of a brick or breezeblock wall, it can add a layer of insulation and stop damp penetration.
But the problems start when the render cracks and lets in moisture. Cracking, bulging and flaking are all telltale signs that water has got in and frost damage has done the rest.
Summit recommended
This is what faced our clients at their home in Theydon Bois, Essex when they came to Summit Cladding for a solution, after being recommended by a friend we had worked for in the past.
As you can see from the “before” photograph, the external wall was suffering from severe cracking that they had attempted to repair. In fact, several different contractors had tried to solve the problem.
But Summit’s answer was to remove all the defective render and start afresh with our up to date and maintenance-free solution – James Hardie cladding.
Makeover underway
We stripped off the old render, cleaned off the breezeblock wall and fitted a breathable vapour barrier. Then we fitted cladding to the entire upper section of the bungalow, followed by black ash replacement fascia boards and black deep flow guttering.
We also fitted James Hardie cladding above the bay window at the front of the house to compliment the new look.
Our clients are delighted with their makeover, which took five days to complete. And they are so pleased they followed the advice of their friend to get in touch with Summit Cladding.
