In our last blog we introduced you to Ecoscape, the latest exciting chapter in the development of building cladding. And here’s another example of how this new, vertical slatted cladding can transform what would otherwise be a very ordinary building.
We’ve explained before about all the advantages of composite cladding, which is designed to look like timber, but is made of materials that never rot and need no painting or maintenance, apart from an occasional clean.
And so it is with this Ecoscape slatted cladding which, like its cousin James Hardie horizontal cladding, does not warp or splinter and its colour doesn’t fade in the British weather!
Ethical cladding material
But perhaps the best feature of Ecoscape is its green credentials. At a time when “upcycling” is all the rage, we are proud to use a material that is made of wood fibres and recycled plastic.
The building in the photographs is a garden room at a property in Winchmore Hill, north London, that our client had built to use as a home office and gym. Now breezeblock is a good solid building material, but it doesn’t look very pretty even when when painted or rendered, so our client contacted Summit Cladding for the answer.
Hidden fixings
The first step was to fix treated timber battens to the blockwork walls, followed by the Ecoscape slatted cladding, using its unique hidden fixings so that no nails or screws are visible. We also fitted PVC fascias, soffits and gutters to complete the installation.
Our client is delighted with the smart new look of his garden house, which carries a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee, and Summit would challenge anyone to tell the difference between Ecoscape and natural timber.
