New uPVC bargeboards installation in Palmers Green, North London
September 30, 2024 5:47 pmLooks and longevity of uPVC
Here at Summit Cladding we understand that not everyone likes uPVC. We appreciate that some householders will always prefer the natural look of timber and they are willing to pay to maintain it for as long as it takes.
But we see it as part of our mission to persuade our clients that today’s cladding materials, as supplied and fitted by us, really do beat timber for looks and longevity.
Client’s eye for detail
On this job our client was John, a retired furniture restorer from Palmers Green in North London whose career, by definition, had given him an eye for detail and an appreciation of fine materials.
And he didn’t like PVC, not one bit, because some of his own original PVC bargeboards and many of the neighbouring houses which had similar fixtures were very poor examples!
But after showing John Summit Cladding’s up-to-date materials and explaining how we can replicate the finer details of timber in quality synthetic materials, he became a firm supporter of what could be done with it.
Entirely maintenance-free roofline materials
After Summit went to work, where John’s original uPVC bargeboards were fitted there were now maintenance-free stylish replacements, complete with ornamental architrave. Instead of the flaking black paintwork, there was textured black uPVC, so close to the original, you’d hardly spot the difference.
And the diagonally set timber tongue and groove cladding was now replaced with the same dimensional uPVC.
John was delighted with the look of his new maintenance-free building products, and was especially pleased that he can stop paying a decorator to paint the timber every three years.
