New cladding installation in Ongar

Are you proud of how your house looks from the street, or is it a bit of an eyesore letting down the neighbourhood?

Our recent client, who lives in the picture postcard village of Stanford Rivers, near Ongar in Essex, felt that his home fell into that latter category and he needed to do something about it.

Many of our prospective clients come to us with a vague idea of how to smarten up their homes but look to our experts for detailed guidance and recommendations – and this was just such a case.

Call in the experts

The job was certainly urgent, as the gutters were leaking and – worse than that – the soffits were so bad that squirrels were getting into the loft. Time to call in Summit Cladding!

Starting from the roofline, we removed all the rotten timber fascias and soffits and substituted them with maintenance-free UPVC replacements, with new deep flow black round gutters attached.

Our client’s original plan was to fit cladding only on the top floor at the front of the house, but on closer inspection it was decided to cover the whole of the façade to help cover and disguise some unsightly electrical wiring.

Wide choice of cladding colours

To prepare for the installation we fixed treated timber battens to the walls of the house and then attached James Hardie composite feather-edge cladding in the popular Cobble Stone, just one of many colour choices, which the company describes as a neutral dove-grey with golden undertones. It was a perfect contrast to the dark window frames and roof tiles.

As a finishing touch, our client decided that one more adjustment was needed – the construction of a bespoke front door canopy to protect callers from the rain and to enhance the new look.

The house has been transformed and we are happy to report that, as often happens with our installations, several neighbours have already been in touch to see if we can work our magic on their homes as well.
